Hello, I am Sam Valleriani. Thank you for visiting my page. I am currently a County Court Judge and Acting Supreme Court Justice, and am running for State Supreme Court Justice in the Seventh Judicial District. The District is compromised of the counties of Monroe, Ontario, Livingston, Wayne, Steuben, Cayuga, Seneca, and Yates. You are eligible to vote for me if you live in any of those counties.
I was elected to County Court in 2016, and prior to that served as Gates Town Justice, where I was elected in 2011 and re-elected in 2015. I am also an adjunct professor in the Criminal Justice Department at Keuka College.
I am a lifelong resident of the Town of Gates where I currently live with my wife Rasheda and Daughter Santina. I attended St. Theodore’s Elementary School and Gates Chili High School before attending SUNY Brockport and the University of Buffalo Law School, graduating with honors.
Before my election to the bench, I worked as an assistant public defender, and subsequently as a solo practitioner, owning and operating my own law firm, specializing in criminal defense. In 2013, I was hired as a court attorney in Superior Court, while simultaneously working as a Town Justice.
Before becoming a lawyer and judge, I was a teacher in the Rochester City School District where I received the 2004 USA Today Experience Today Top Teacher of the Year Award. I am also a founding Board member (no longer active) of the University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men.
My community involvement and associations include the County Court Judges Association, the New York State Magistrates Association, the Monroe County Magistrates Association, Gates Amita Club, the Italian-American Sports Club, and the Italian American Community Center.
My experience as a County Court Judge and Acting Supreme Court Justice, in conjunction with my diversified background, make me uniquely qualified to provide effective, firm, and fair decision making as your next Supreme Court Justice. I am honored to ask for your support!
